I always thought GIFs were supposed to be funny or as a space filler in an awkward text. To me, the idea of purchasing a GIF makes absolutely no sense. I don’t get the difference between owning it and being able to google it and look at it for as long as I want. I would love to meet someone who would pay over 5,000 dollars for a GIF. I do think it is very interesting that Jeff Koons sold his physical balloon dog art for 58.4 million dollars.I think it is crazy that nine years ago an orange balloon dog sold for 58 million dollars and now we are making GIFs of it that can’t sell. I felt that the statement of the balloon art is the most fascinating part. This GIF represents our culture drifting into the next step, digital mediums. I think that the GIF is a very excellent piece of artwork, but more than its beauty it has a larger meaning. His art is less about the piece of physical art that he created rather it is a representation of how the world of art is moving. I think this is one of the coolest GIFs I have seen, it is so realistic, and the way that it melts and folds is amazing. I find this piece of art really inspiring. I do really like the direction art is moving, I think with the rise of digital art we will see more and more extremely talented artists. Art is a more realistic and feasible career for people now.
