BRAINSTORM BLOG

Late last week, when we started to get into more detail about this project, I was terrified, confused, and overwhelmed. I honestly didn’t understand why we were doing it. It all came together when we took a class period to listen to and analyze those works of art. I took some time the other day to go through the shared folder and listen to a few of the sounds that the other students put in. I did this in hopes of getting some inspiration. My idea for this sound editing project was to make it almost a “day in the life”. I started with sounds that you might hear in the morning, stirring coffee, basketball bouncing indicating working out, leaves crushing, laundry going, etc. As the day got later you could hear things like people talking in class, dogs barking, zippers and of course an afternoon coffee. I was inspired by the mundane sounds of life, the little things in life. These are all sounds that we hear again and again but all mingled and mashed together. My absolute favorite part of my sound is the end, you can hear crickets in the distance, and then a voicemail rolls from a grandmother to her grandchild. I didn’t know exactly where to place it but I thought the end made the most sense. It reflects back to the meaning of my project, enjoying the little things.
